Short answer. Facials, dermaplaning and permanent makeup are fine year round. Laser, IPL and stronger peels are possible in summer only if the treated area stays fully out of the sun — otherwise they are better scheduled from October through April.
Nine months of strong UV changes how treatments get scheduled here. This is the calendar Marina works to, and the reasoning behind it.
Safe any time of year
Possible in summer, with conditions
Laser hair reduction and IPL both rely on pigment, so tanned skin narrows the settings that can be used safely — which slows your progress rather than speeding it. Underarms, bikini and other covered areas are straightforward in July. Face, chest, arms and legs need genuine commitment to shade and SPF.
A tan is not a reason to refuse treatment outright. It is a reason to lower the settings, which means the series takes longer.
Better to wait for cooler months
How to plan a year around it
Start pigment and light-based series in autumn so you finish before the sun returns. Use summer for facials, dermaplaning and covered-area laser. If you are travelling somewhere sunny, tell Marina before the appointment rather than after — the plan changes, not the welcome.
Asked in the room, answered here
How long after a tan can I be treated?
Give it about two weeks with no further exposure, and no self-tanner in that window either.
Does sunscreen alone make summer laser fine?
It helps significantly, but shade and covering the area matter just as much on treated skin.
What about a beach holiday mid-series?
Keep the session before it, protect the area, and expect the next appointment to be assessed on the day.
Is winter skin easier to treat?
Generally yes — untanned skin allows more effective settings, which is why series finish faster in the cooler months.
